Medication Administration
Our school is committed to supporting students who require medication during school hours. Please note the following guidelines to ensure a safe and effective process:
Requirements for Medication at School
If your child needs to take medication at school, including self-administered medications, parents must provide detailed written instructions. In some instances, we may also require a doctor’s letter before our staff can take responsibility for administering the medication. It is important to note that students are generally responsible for remembering to visit the office for their medication.
Short-Term Medications
For short-term medications, parents/carers must complete the "Student Health Condition Support Request" available on the School Bytes parent portal. Please ensure that all medications are supplied in their original packaging.
Long-Term Medications
For long-term medications, parents/carers should also complete the "Student Health Condition Support Request" on the School Bytes parent portal and provide a supporting letter from their doctor. Medications should ideally be supplied in blister packs; if this is not feasible, please bring them in their original packaging to the office.
Important Information
- All prescribed medications should be delivered to the school office, preferably by a parent. Medications should not be kept in students' backpacks for safety reasons, and we maintain a limited supply of any medication on site. Please note that analgesics, such as aspirin or panadol, are not permitted at school due to specific regulations.
- If your child has allergies to bee stings or certain foods, it is crucial that you contact us directly to establish a health care plan for emergency situations.
- For students with asthma requiring special attention, please provide an Asthma Action Plan. Students are allowed to carry a bronchodilator with them.
- For students prescribed antibiotics to be taken three times a day, we kindly ask that you administer one dose in the morning before school, another at home after school, and the final dose at night. If your child requires four doses a day, we are happy to assist with that as well.
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our students safe and healthy.
