Safe bus travel
Bus travel is a great way for students to travel to and from school safely.
Remember to:
- have your bus pass ready
- always meet your child at the bus stop – never on the opposite side of the road
- hold your child’s hand and stand a few steps back from the edge of the road when waiting for the bus
- wait until the bus has gone, then choose a safe place to cross the road.

Eligible students can get a free travel pass under the School Student Transport Scheme. Apply for a travel pass today.
Driving and parking
The start and end of the school day are busy times for pedestrians and drivers outside schools.
When driving and parking near our school, please:
- ensure you park legally and safely in school zones
- slow down to 40km/h in the school zone and be aware of pedestrians
- do not make U-turns or 3-point turns outside the school.

Drop-off and pick-up procedures
Drop-off and Pick-up can occur safely on the school side of the road when dropping off and collecting your children by car.
Remember:
- drop your child off and pick them up on the school side of the road
- never call out to your child from across the road - it is very dangerous
- always get your child in and out of the car on the footpath side (safety door)
Walking to school safely
Walking to and from school is a great way for children to stay healthy and active.
Remember:
- up until at least 8 years old, always hold your child’s hand when crossing the road, walking on the footpath, or in a car park
- up until at least 10 years old, supervise your child in the roadside environment
- Stop, Look, Listen, Think, every time you cross the road
- talk with your child about staying safe and alert near roads.
- use the safest place to cross the road.
Ride to school safely
Riding to school is a great way to start the day.
Remember:
- always wear a helmet when riding
- look out for cars in driveways
- ride or walk alongside your child until they are at least 10 years old
- you can ride together on footpaths, until your child is 16 years old, unless signposted otherwise
- regularly check to ensure your child has a well-maintained bike or scooter.
- E-Scooters are not permitted.
